WHEN You have been doing EVERYTHING TO make this relationship work…
But somehow, it only keeps getting worse.
You wake up miserable. You’re irritated all the time. You’ve stopped hanging out with your friends because even that becomes a fight. So you zone out as much as you can by binge watching shows ,work too late on your computer,lift too hard at the gym or hyperfocus on things that help you escape the painful reality you face. You know this isn’t the way you want your life to be. You are now wondering if this relationship thing is worth it. How is that no matter what you say, you are either seen as an asshole or like you don’t give a shit? You just can’t win. You always wondered if you were cut out for relationships and that feeling is now back- this is just too much work. If you get mad, youre being aggressive. If you want to leave the room to take a damn break so that you dont get mad, you are “always” leaving instead of dealing with it. If you keep your feelings to yourself, you seem like you don’t care. If you share what’s going on for you,it’s just more fighting and never any solutions so what’s the point?. You don’t know if this is going to work but you also can’t seem to end this relationship. Aargh. Fuck this.

I hear you. You are in a tough spot there…
You are a good person in a relationship that just keeps bringing out the worst in you. This is not who you are. I know this because if it were, you would not be on a therapy site right now. You don’t want to be where you are, and you know how you want a relationship to feel instead- it’s the in between that is confusing and a mess.
